Welcome back to The Golden Perspective Blog and my most personal post yet! Are we over the Pepsi advert yet? That’s what everyone is talking about this week, for now anyway. Do I think it’s a big deal? Yes, I thought it was silly and very clearly not thought through, however I don’t think we should blame Kendall. I believe Kendall Jenner just did what Pepsi instructed her to do. It’s important we all know, that you can’t confront a Police Officer in London with a can of Pepsi, that will definitely not get you out of any kind of trouble. I actually get what they were trying to do in terms of the creative angle and I thought the advert was really good until Kendall handed the officer an ice cool can of Pepsi, I thought the fist spud thing she did was a little awkward as well. If you haven’t seen the Ad, watch it below. Did Pepsi go too far? Let me know what you think!
I’m currently sitting down on my sofa, with my Hello Kitty Beats on, listening to Purple Rain. The perfect Friday afternoon if you ask me. Apple Music is still giving me life. Best decision I ever made. Whenever I download a song, I feel like I’m running around in a virtual HMV store. I think it’s quite sad that no one really buys CD’s anymore. I cherish all of my CD’s because they all remind me of a certain period of time in my life. My Destiny’s Child album is going nowhere anytime soon!
I wanted to write a post a little more personal. I love to write, I’ve talked about my favourite places to eat in London and what products I like and don’t like (Bonjour Christian Louboutin) but I haven’t really talked about myself (surprisingly) When I read blogs, or watch videos, I like to know a little bit about the person. I wouldn’t be surprised if you guys are asking yourself “Who even writes this blog anyway”? Hence the title. So I’m going to (try) and answer that question in this post, I’m going to write about my hobbies, dreams and a few things I deem very important! I’ve included some random questions at the end of the post, so you can get to know me more, enjoy! Don’t switch on me I got big plans for my next post! I can’t stop with the Drake quotes.. (Hi Drake) Happy Reading guys.
What are your hobbies?
I have a few hobbies, I love to read. I am deeply in love with reading and I always have been. When I was younger, I would constantly sit with my nose in a book. I’d read a book a day, literally. Obviously I don’t have that much time on my hands anymore with work, my internship and university. I still read but not as much. However I’d recommend making time to read. It’s a great way to relax! My favourite book of all time is The Help. The story is about Black maids working in white households in Jackson, Mississippi. The book is incredible. Grab a copy if you haven’t read it. Please read the book before you watch the film! I feel like people always assume that once they’ve watched a film, they don’t need to worry about reading the book. You couldn’t be more wrong. Films are amazing, but books give you a feeling that a movie can’t. Plus most of the time the book and the film are completely different, I think this can be good and bad.
My other hobbies include writing. I write my thoughts down all the time, I also make lists and attempt to write stories. I would recommend getting a small notebook that you can carry around with you, you never know when you might need it. Of course, I love blogging. I study Public Relations at the moment but I was absolutely convinced that I was going to study Journalism for a really long period of time.
I loved writing and the idea of either writing for a Magazine or Newspaper was really very appealing to me. I blame The Devil Wears Prada for that. However when I found out a little bit more about Public Relations, I was really excited. To me, PR is journalism, Media and English in one. I still get to write, communicate and have fun! When I created my blog, I was satisfying my inner Journalist. And if she’s happy, I am. I also really enjoy shopping, travelling, spending time with my family and friends and wasting my whole day or parts of it on Social Media. I think Snapchat is my most used app.
What is important to you?
My culture is very important to me, I was born in London and have lived here for twenty years. London is home to me, West London to be precise. All my friends live here, majority of my family live here and I love it. However my parents are from Ghana, West Africa. My Mum is Ghanaian and my Dad is Ghanaian and Indian. People always assume I’m half White and half something else because of my complexion which is interesting and a little bizarre. I love Ghana, I have visited multiple times and I absolutely adore it. I love the culture. I love the music, food and people. Ghanaian people are so friendly and welcoming. Every Ghanaian person I know, is absolutely full of life. I don’t know much about India, but I would love to visit one day as I’m sure I’d connect with the culture as much as I connect with my African / British heritage. If you haven’t visited the country your Parents are from, put that on your to do list! You’ll feel a different kind of pride when your back, it’s a fantastic feeling.
“My Culture is very important to me”.
Travelling is so important to me, I love an adventure. I believe I’m happiest away. I try and go away at least twice a year or more, if I can. It’s something I try and make time and save up for. When I’m on holiday I feel like I’ve left everything behind. In my head I think yes, a break, an escape. I love it! My Mum has been taking me away for as long as I can remember, I’ve been lucky enough to visit New York, Paris, Ghana, Germany, Italy and more. I love embracing other cultures and finding out more about different countries. In the future, I’d love to travel for a long period of time or maybe even move away, however London will always be my home. #Londoner
Education is important to me, Some people don’t have access to education, so I feel extremely lucky. I love studying PR. Over the years, English has always been my strong point but I am absolutely terrible at maths, I used to beat myself up about it but I realise now, that you can’t be good at everything. Over the years, I have learnt to embrace what I’m good at and work on what doesn’t come naturally to me.
My Friends & Family mean everything to me. I am a very family orientated person. I am very close with my family members, especially my Mum. I recently lost my Grandad and a small piece of my heart is missing. I would recommend spending as much time with your family members and loved ones as sadly they will not be around forever. Make memories, you can cherish and hold on too.
It’s important to have a small and stable circle of friends you can trust around you and it’s important to have friends, you can be yourself around. Religion is important to me, I went to a Catholic Primary school and a Catholic secondary school. I’ve always known God and had God in my life. I have ups and downs like anyone else and praying always makes me feel better.
What are your dreams?
I want to finish university with my degree, knowing I’ve tried my absolute best. I’d love to travel the world however South Africa, Dubai and China are sky high at the top of my list. I’d also love to volunteer overseas. I’d love to have my own column in a Newspaper or Magazine or maybe even publish a book. And this is so super cliché but I hope to make a difference and be the best version of myself I can be. Help others and make people happy! I hope to keep blogging and have a successful career in PR, maybe crack America!
